With only 5 weeks of lectures to go and about half the time of the exchange semester I’ve found myself in some kind of emotional rollercoaster. This week specifically, I’ve been feeling low and there are many reasons for this.
First of all, my body is a mess. I have something called Plantar Fasciit in both my heels which hurts a lot when I walk, aching knees because of the heels, and back pain (also related to heels and knees most likely). I’m feeling broken and weak and every walk I go for is painful which is problematic as I walk all the time (especially during travels and exploration days) and I also need to be running and jumping for my dance classes..
Second of all I’m sick. I’ve been feeling feverish all week and so far I haven’t been able to take it easy or rest much as I had a hectic school week with deadlines and midterms. Now TODAY I finished my last presentation for this week though, so the rest of the week I’ll be resting more.
The third reason is that I’ve started to feel a bit homesick. When you’re sick and weak and stressed in general the thoughts take you to a warm safe place at home where you can be taken care of by loved ones.
A fourth reason which I just came to think of as I wrote the third one is the weather. Ever since I came back from recess week last week it’s been pouring in Singapore every day. Not all day, but definitely for a while every day. And there’s also been thunder and lightning with the rain (which I hate). The thunder is scary loud, much louder than I’m used to. A couple of weeks ago I honestly thought we were being bombed when the thunder roared over campus, and I couldn’t stop shaking for half an hour after that. If there’s anything in this world that changes my mood in a second it’s the weather. Bad weather = bad mood.
And on top of it all I dropped my phone on the ground the other day. Broken screen? oh yes.
Sorry for my rant but I felt like I needed to write from a different perspective then the one where everything is great. This is what I’m feeling and experiencing at the moment. Perhaps next week it will be great again, I hope so!
Next post will be about recess week! Me and two friends from here travelled to Hong Kong, China and Taiwan during 9 days and experienced so many cool things. More about that next time!
